Don’t Ignore Creative - Outsource It

There are terms in the marketing world that are used that might not be universally defined, but leave a big impact in terms of how you connect with your customers. One is ‘creative’. When it comes to getting your message out through various marketing channels, creative is what makes it all come together and connects your brand to your message. It’s the voice and personality that define what your materials look like and how they sound to your audience. If your messaging doesn’t resonate with your audience then your product will not either. Most companies do not have the time or finances to pay for a full creative team. Resources are limited. That is why outsourcing creative is key to connecting your brand and product with your audience, increasing your bottom line.

One of the first things to consider when outsourcing creative is why? Do you know why you need to outsource? Follow these guidelines:

  • Limited resources

    • The marketing team is small, possibly one or two people who do not have the requisite skills

    • Relying on one person to do it all is not realistic or fair

    • Outside resources can help uplift and complement team

  • Sales efforts hampered by not having a well-thought-out brand

  • Need fresh perspective or expertise

The other side to outsourcing creative is making sure you do it at the right time. If you have any of the following situations, it's time to turn to experts!

  • Overhaul of brand identity

  • New or updated brand elements

    • Website

    • Business cards, sales sheets, marketing materials

    • Logo refresh

  • Changes to brand benefits, values, personality

  • Company growth

  • Current offerings have gone stale or looking for an out-of-the-box idea

Now that you have decided why and when to outsource creative, you need to make sure you identify the right team to partner with. As with any partnership, make sure you have found a team who aligns with your values and mission. A true partnership will be made when both sides work together and the creative team makes the effort to learn and understand your business. They can not effectively connect your brand’s message if they don’t understand what you do. Do they spend time with your people, learn about your product and your audience? A qualified creative team will. Additionally, you want to identify the area of expertise that you are lacking and find a company that has that capability.

Outsourcing creative will save your team time and headaches and help improve your brand’s messaging and how you reach your audience.
